Cushing developer in hot water

A housing developer in Cushing is in trouble for not paying a $20,000 fine.

Cushing Holdings LLC, which has developed subdivisions in Cushing, Thomaston and Owls Head, was ordered in July to pay $20,000 for violating stormwater management and shoreland zoning laws in 2004 and 2005, according to VillageSoup.com.

James Tower, who runs the company, did not meet his July 23, deadline to pay the fine and Cushing Holdings is now being held in contempt of court, a ruling that could result in additional fines or imprisonment if the fees aren't paid, the site said. A hearing date for the contempt ruling hasn't been set yet.
