Bangor-based law firm Eaton Peabody is opening an office in Portland and announced the hire of a veteran Portland lawyer.
Neal Pratt, a Portland-area attorney for 23 years, will join Eaton Peabody's new office set to open in the first quarter of 2013, according to a press release from the firm.
Pratt will join the firm's litigation practice group in the Portland office that will host between five and 10 attorneys.
Pratt was previously at Preti Flaherty, the firm he joined in 2009 after serving as chair of Verrill Dana's trial department and as the firm's general counsel.
Pratt is also chairman of the Cumberland County Civic Center's Board of Trustees and was honored in September with the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce's Robert R. Masterton Award for Leadership in Economic Development.
Pratt is the first hire announced for the firm's Portland expansion. Eaton Peabody also has offices in Augusta, Bangor, Brunswick and Ellsworth.
