Ellsworth car dealer in hot water

Ford Motor Credit Co., the financing arm of Ford Motor Co., has filed a complaint against Dave Gould Ford in Ellsworth alleging the local auto dealer owes Ford $2.4 million, the Ellsworth American reports.

Ford claims Dave Gould failed to repay advances that the company issued to finance Gould's purchase of vehicles and that he defaulted on his wholesale agreement with the auto maker, according to the complaint. On Sept. 14, Judge Bernard Staples of the Hancock County District Court issued a temporary restraining order against Gould requiring that he stop selling Ford vehicles. Court documents state that Ford is entitled to the keys and titles for all vehicles on the lot.

Gould told the newspaper yesterday afternoon that he and Ford had already settled the issues described in the court filing, which includes an affidavit from Gould, who states as of Sept. 13 that he had paid in full the amounts Ford claimed were owed. A hearing has been scheduled in district court on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
