F. Lee Bailey seeks to overturn Maine Bar denial

F. Lee Bailey, a former defense attorney for O.J. Simpson with a home in Yarmouth, testified Thursday before Maine's highest court in his latest attempt to get a license to practice law in the state.

The Portland Press Herald reported the 79-year-old Bailey testified before a Maine Supreme Judicial Court judge to overturn a 5-4 January decision by the Maine Board of Bar Examiners that cited Bailey's past misconduct, resulting in 44 days in federal prison and his disbarrment in Massachusetts and Florida, as central in denying him a license to practice law in Maine.

Bailey passed the Maine Bar Examination in February. Justice Donald Alexander, who heard Bailey's latest plea, asked for closing arguments from both parties by Wednesday before he makes a final decision.
