LePage to stump for hospital payback plan

Gov. Paul LePage has scheduled two stops in Lewiston and Auburn this weekend to put pressure on lawmakers to approve his plan to repay $186 million in debt to hospitals by renegotiating the state's wholesale liquor distribution contract.

The Associated Press reported LePage and Gerry Reid, director of the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery, will stop today at Roopers Beverage in Auburn to talk about the plan. Following that, the governor plans to visit Central Maine Medical Center and make other visits in Lewiston as part of the Capitol for a Day program.
