Fire destroys former mill

A woodworking company at a historic former mill in Oakland was destroyed by fire Sunday morning.

The five-story former Cascade Woolen Mill in the city's downtown was leveled by fire over the weekend, according to the Morning Sentinel. The fire destroyed most of the manufacturing, shipping and packaging equipment of K-D Display & Design Inc., which makes hardwood displays and store fixtures. The company's equipment in a nearby steel building was damaged but not destroyed, owner Michael Dye told the paper.

Dye will decide this week whether to relocate the company, according to the paper.
