The proliferation of Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Maine continues, with the announcement that a fifth franchise location will be coming to Western Avenue in Augusta this fall.
Construction on the 2,425-square-foot Five Guys space will begin shortly, according to a release from Northland Enterprises, the Portland-based commercial real estate development firm that owns the property.
“We turned down several potential tenants for that prime space, because the feedback we got from Augusta community leaders was that they wanted something distinctive there,” Josh Benthien, a partner at Northland said in a release about the opening. “Five Guys definitely fits the bill, and I think they’ll do well in that very visible location.”
The Western Avenue location, which was acquired by Northland in 2011, was once home to the Kennebec Journal and is currently occupied by a Goodwill store, Men’s Wearhouse, Supercuts, a US Cellular retail store and the regional headquarters for Bangor Savings Bank.
