The former Francine Bistro, at 55 Chestnut St. in Camden, recently reopened as Franny’s Bistro.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Jack and Jennifer Neal signed a lease on the space over the summer and reopened earlier this month. They told the newspaper that opening for the winter sends the signal that they’re there not just for the summer trade but for local clientele.
The former Francine Bistro, a popular eatery that closed in late 2017, was purchased in May by Mark Senders, owner of the Camden hotspot Bagel Café. At the time, Senders told Mainebiz his contractor was rebuilding the floors and installing new electrical and plumbing systems in the building, which dates to 1950. Senders also was preparing to install new equipment, noting that when the opportunity arose to buy 55 Chestnut St., he jumped on it, recognizing the property’s potential in a strong downtown location.
