The town of Fairfield has awarded four grants in the first round of its Facade Improvement and Marketing Assistance Program, and says they will stimulate over $51,000 of direct investments in the downtown area.
Launched earlier this year, the grant program creates financial incentives for renovating and preserving privately owned business exteriors within Fairfield, as well as for marketing assistance to stimulate commerce.
Details of individual grants were not immediately available. But according to a news release Wednesday, the four grant recipients are:
“Fairfield’s Facade Improvement and Marketing Assistance Program is a catalyst for business growth,” said Garvan D. Donegan, director of planning and economic development at Central Maine Growth Council, in the release.
“In its first round, the program is supporting an exciting new downtown business and a long-time community fixture, and is investing in the historic riverside infrastructure that is integral to downtown Fairfield’s charm.”
The grant program, funded by Fairfield tax increment financing revenues, plans to issue a second round of funding by the fall. Interested businesses may access program applications here.
