A French company plans to open a luxury camping, or “glamping,” resort in Sanford next month.
Huttopia, which operates over 50 resorts in Europe and Canada, said in a news release that the glamp site at 149 Sand Pond Road will accept guests from July 4 to Oct. 20.
Lodging options will include cabins and canvas tents constructed on wooden platforms, with sleeping areas for up to five people, kitchens, and private bathrooms and showers. Electricity is provided, and amenities include hotel-quality mattresses and access to a heated pool and yoga classes.
Prices will start at $85 per night, according to the release.
Nash Abdrabo, Huttopia's CEO for North America, said, “Our expansion into Southern Maine highlights our continued effort to make nature accessible to all, from nature enthusiasts who are discouraged by the labor-intensive demands of packing and setting up camp to urbanites who prefer vacationing with added comforts.”
The Sanford glamp site will be Huttopia’s second in the U.S. The company also operates a resort in Albany, N.H.
