Gorham Savings Bank has appointed a health care executive, bank corporator and LaunchPad judge to join its board of directors.
Katie Harris serves as chief government affairs officer for MaineHealth. In this role, she has led all government and regulatory efforts at the local, state and federal levels. She also leads internal projects that align public policy priorities with clinical care delivery.
“Katie’s vast knowledge and experience in public policy and regulatory compliance, as well as her deep ties to the Greater Portland community, make her an excellent addition to our board of directors,” said Steve deCastro, president and CEO of Gorham Savings Bank.
Prior to joining MaineHealth, Harris was the director of government relations at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Sheild.
Harris serves as president of the International Women’s Forum of Maine and on the boards of the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute and the Edward Davis Benevolent Trust. She also previously served as co-chair of the United Way of Greater Portland’s Thrive 2027 initiative.
The Yarmouth resident received her master’s in health care policy and management from the University of Southern Maine and received her bachelor’s from Columbia University.
Headquartered in Gorham since its founding in 1868, Gorham Savings is a depositor-owned community bank. The bank has locations in Portland, Gorham, Yarmouth, Scarborough, Falmouth, South Portland, Westbrook, Standish and Windham.
Gorham Savings Bank is No. 9 among the largest Maine-based banks, according to the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists. That ranking is based on assets of June 30, 2022. It also ranked No. 11 among the banks with the largest market share in Maine.
