Bangor-based engineering firm Haley Ward Inc. made its second acquisition in as many weeks, expanding its footprint in Florida.
Haley Ward said Wednesday it acquired the MilCor Group Inc. a woman-owned multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices in Port St. Lucie, and Hobe Sound, Fla., about half an hour's drive from one another on the Atlantic Coast.
With the addition of MilCor Group, Haley Ward now has a presence on both coasts of Florida. Its existing office has been in Fort Myers, on the Gulf Coast.
MilCor provides civil-site, roadway, stormwater, utilities, agricultural engineering, construction inspection, and project management. Its clients include state and federal agencies, municipalities, commercial and industrial clients.
“About half of our growth over the past several years has come from acquiring firms that provide excellent service to their clients to which in turn adds depth and opportunities to our team of experts,” said Denis St. Peter, Haley Ward's president and CEO.
MilCor will be known as MilCor Group, a division of Haley Ward, during a transition phase. Both offices and 12 employees have joined Haley Ward.
MilCor’s founder and president is Melissa Corbett.
“Since 2008 MilCor has been providing engineering, construction inspection, and project management services with a strong focus on cost and quality control,” Corbett said. “After meeting Denis and members of the Haley Ward team, we knew that we would be able to expand the range of services we can offer our clients, without sacrificing who we are and what we believe in as a company.”
Haley Ward’s COO, Travis Noyes, noted that MilCor has received several environmental stewardship awards.
In late September, Haley Ward announced it had acquired Lenard Engineering Inc., a multi-discipline engineering and environmental firm headquartered in Glastonbury, Conn., with offices in Winsted, Conn., and Auburn, Mass.
In 2021, Haley Ward acquired the GeoEnvironmental division of cross-town partnering firm S.W. Cole Engineering and Whitman & Bingham Associates LLC, a surveying and civil engineering company in Leominster and Chelmsford, Mass.
In 2020, the Maine company, then called CES Inc., acquired Haley and Ward Inc. of Maynard, Mass. (In the midst of rebranding, CES shortly afterward changed its name to Haley Ward.)
Haley Ward has offices in four states — Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida.
