Harriman adds two to its ownership team

Harriman, an integrated design firm with three offices in Maine and one in New Hampshire, announced Monday that two of its engineers have been promoted to principals, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
James C. Fortin and David W. Story join the firm’s seven other owners to create a diverse core of leaders from the firm’s multidisciplinary architectural, engineering and planning practices.
Fortin is a structural engineer who leads Harriman’s structural and civil engineering groups, guiding contract development, client relations, and construction administration as well as providing direct project oversight to projects in development.
He has more than 25 years of experience in structural engineering, with extensive knowledge of building systems, serving as structural-engineer-of-record for new construction and major renovation projects spanning the medical, educational, commercial, industrial, housing and retail markets throughout New England and beyond.
Fortin holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is a licensed professional engineer in six states. He lives in Lewiston with his family.
Story is a mechanical engineer who leads the firm’s mechanical engineering group, which is focused on providing sustainable and energy-efficient systems to clients primarily in the education, health care and retail environments. Under Story’s leadership, the group takes a practical approach to cost-effective solutions with an eye toward innovation.
With nearly 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering — all of it with Harriman — for diverse project types, Story holds both an associate of applied science degree in civil engineering and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire and is a licensed professional engineer in five states. He lives in Lisbon with his family.
