Heating oil prices remain stable

For the second consecutive week, the average statewide price of home heating oil remained at $3.64 a gallon.

The Governor’s Energy Office’s weekly price survey indicated that rates ranged from $3.88 in eastern Maine to $3.38 in southern and western Maine, the Portland Press Herald reported.

The average price for propane remained lower than this time a year ago, dropping 2 cents a gallon from last week to $2.71.

The newspaper reported that crude oil prices overall have been trending upward, due to factors that include U.S. budget negotiations, a weaker dollar and terrorism worries.
