The new owners of the 31-room Lucerne Inn in Dedham said the lure of leaving the hustle and bustle of New York and their entrepreneurial aspirations led to their decision to jump into Maine’s hospitality industry.
“We were ready to leave the rat race of New York and wanted to be in business together instead of always working for other people,” Jayne Silverman, who co-owns the inn with her husband David, told the Bangor Daily News. “We felt like we could put our energies together and do what we can for the inn. It’s a very special place.”
The $2.3 million purchase of the inn, which is located roughly 20 minutes from the Bangor International Airport and 45 minutes from Acadia National Park, closed last week, according to the BDN.
The new owners told the BDN that they intend to retain the approximately 35 staff members of the inn and, aside from minor redecorating, there are no plans to expand the inn, which sits on 10 acres.
