Home sales jump 8.9% in February
Single-family home sales surged 8.9% in February compared with the same month last year, bucking decreasing sales volumes nationally and regionally.
Figures from Maine Listings show 646 homes changed hands in February, up from 593 sales in February 2013. The statewide median sales price also rose to $160,000, up 5.6%.
Nationally, home sales dropped nearly 7% in February. Across New England, the drop was a steeper 12.7%. The median sales price, however, increased on national and regional levels, 9% and 1.5% respectively.
