New hires

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, hired Anya Endsley, Samuel Baldwin, Christopher Monroe and Michael Kebede as associates.

Penobscot Community Health Care hired Sharyl White as chief information officer and Amanda Langworthy as a certified family nurse practitioner at Helen Hunt Health Center in Old Town. White was previously manager director within the applications and infrastructure-and-operations teams at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. Langworthy was RN supervisor and charge nurse at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor.

Macpage LLC, an accounting firm in South Portland, hired Adriana Grigorova as an internal audit associate. Previously, Grigorova was a supervisor at TD Bank.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington announced David Rice joined the medical staff of Franklin Health and will operate Franklin Health Intown Medicine in Farmington. Rice, a board-certified internist, previously operated his own private practice out of the location.

Kelly, Remmel & Zimmerman, a law firm in Portland, hired Emily Atkins and Stephen Koerting. Atkins focuses her practice on commercial, real estate and business matters while Koerting primarily works in the fields of general civil litigation, personal injury and family law.

The Lewiston-Auburn CA$H Coalition hired Sue Martin as program coordinator and Linda Cronkite as asset coordinator for the 2017 tax season.

Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford hired Susan Keiler as senior vice president and chief innovation officer and Rick Olsen as senior vice president and CFO. Keiler was previously with St. Mary's Health System in Lewiston while Olsen was senior director of finance and operations management, corporate financial planning for North Shore LIJ Health System.

Maine Savings in Hampden hired Ryan Jandreau as a member service representative/loan officer at its Broadway branch in Bangor. Jandreau was previously branch manager for Acadia Federal Credit Union's Ashland branch.

Landry/French Construction Co. in Scarborough hired Derek Albert as senior project manager.

Portland Adult Education hired Anita St. Onge as interim executive director. St. Onge is an attorney with 15 years of experience managing grant-funded projects at University of Southern Maine's Muskie School.

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Scarborough, hired Cybele Brooks as marketing manager. Brooks was most recently vice president of Flyte New Media in Portland.

DMM Inc., a direct marketing and digital document provider in Scarborough, hired Brian Charrier as client service manager.

Perkins Thompson, a law firm in Portland, hired Emily White as an associate. White is a recent graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced several new hires. In the firm's audit and accounting group, Heather Booth, Ian Martell, Jennifer Morris, Paige Nadeau and Chelsea Stanley were hired as staff accountants, while Matthew Dube was hired as staff auditor. Bethany Bielicki was hired as campus recruiter in the executive fit group. In the government consulting group, Sarah Abbott, Erica Kosnow and Megan O'Brien were hired as consultants; Matthew Bria, Eddy Cheng, Pam Coleman, Tam Ly and Emily McCoy as senior consultants; and Susan Chugha as paraprofessional. In the health care and not-for-profit group, Nicole Andrews and Rachel Tetelman were hired as paraprofessionals while Nicholas Favreau was hired as a consultant in the management and IT consulting group. In the tax group, Patrick Doherty and Nathan Palmer were hired as tax specialists and Kate Mango was hired as a staff accountant.

Allenfarm Fence Co. in Hermon hired Brent West Jr. as CEO. West has more than 20 years' experience in manufacturing and five years in the nonprofit financial-management field.

Maine State Credit Union in Augusta hired Erin Campbell as assistant vice president of finance. Campbell was previously CFO at Brewer Federal Credit Union.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Amber Attalla, Zachary Brandwein, Daniel Keenan, Rachael Becker McEntee and James Monteleone. Attalla joined the firm's labor and employment practice group, Brandwein the energy and municipal-and-governmental services practice groups, Keenan the business restructuring and insolvency practice group, Becker McEntee the energy practice group and Monteleone the litigation practice group.

Northland Enterprises, a commercial real estate development company in Portland, hired Peter Tousignant as finance director. Previously, Tousignant was an officer at TD Bank.

Promotions

Maine Maritime Museum in Bath promoted Kurt Spiridakis to director of watercraft and traditional skills and John Settelen to chief financial and operations officer. Spiridakis was previously boatshop manager while Settelen was director of finance.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union in Scarborough promoted Brittany Roma Eaton to collections manager. Roma Eaton was previously a senior collections representative.

Maine Savings in Hampden promoted Brett Speed to loan officer in the loan operations department in Hampden. Previously, Speed was member service representative and loan officer.

Down East Enterprise Inc. in Camden promoted Lawrence Hollins to director of advertising for Down East magazine and Alanna Lee to assistant advertising director and Portland office manager for Down East and Dispatch magazines.

TEGNA Inc. promoted Karen Araiza to news director of WCSH 6/WLBZ 2 in Portland. Araiza was previously managing editor, integrated media at NBC10/WCAU in Philadelphia.

Macpage LLC, an accounting firm in South Portland, promoted Colleen Mancini to CFO. Mancini previously served the firm as controller.

U.S. Cellular promoted Derek Simpson to retail store manager in Brewer and Ellsworth. Simpson was previously retail sales manager in Ellsworth.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, promoted Benjamin Ford to counsel. Ford, who had been an associate, specializes in litigation and trial work that focuses on labor and employment, maritime and litigation issues.

FHC Inc., a Bowdoin firm that designs, manufactures and markets neuroscientific and neurological devices to target microscopic brain structures, promoted Russell Young to CFO, Stephanie Dundas to finance manager and Peggy Leonard to director of marketing.

Appointments

Waterville Creates!, an arts and cultural organization in Waterville, named Uri Lessing to its board of directors. Lessing is a fifth grade teacher at Albert S. Hall School in Waterville and also serves as board president of the Maine Film Center.

The Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor appointed Mary Herman and Roger Milliken to its board of trustees. Herman serves on the University of New England board and is a former member of the Maine Women's Lobby and Safe Passage boards. Milliken is president and CEO of the Baskahegan Co. in Brookton.

Shaheen & Gordon PA, a law firm in Saco, said that the Maine Bar Association appointed Elizabeth Scheffee to serve on the Maine Supreme Court's advisory commission for the uniform bar exam. Scheffee specializes in divorce and family law.

Fausto Pifferrer, vice president and owner of Blue Elephant Events and Catering in Saco, joined the board of directors of the International Caterer's Association.

Maine Adaptive, an organization in Newry that promotes year-round education and training for individuals with physical disabilities, added Tom Butler, Robert Gurry, Cate Parker and David Patch to its board of directors. Butler is director of skier services at Sugarloaf, Gurry is director of marketing operations for the New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, Parker is associate director of community health and wellness at Mid Coast-Parkview Health in Brunswick and Patch is a retired naval engineer.

The American Red Cross of Maine named Louis Pollock, Matt Harmon and Shawn McEwen to serve on its Southern Maine Chapter board of directors. Pollock is a retired captain with the United States Navy and former president of the international division and corporate senior vice president with IDEXX Laboratories Inc., McEwen is owner and operator of Sea Salt LLC in Saco and Harmon is senior vice president of claims for The MEMIC Group in Portland.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association elected Michael Lane to its board of directors. Lane is a partner at Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, and a member of the firm's real estate group.

Achievements

Hancock Lumber in Bethel and Casco earned the “Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Award” from the Maine Department of Labor in recognition of its safety achievement program.

Shaheen & Gordon PA, a law firm in Saco, said Peter Schroeter and Randall Smith were selected to the “New England Super Lawyers 2016” list while Rachel Violette was selected to the “Rising Star” list.

Thompson Bowie & Hatch LLC, a law firm in Portland, announced that James Bowie, Robert Hatch and Leonard Langer were selected for inclusion in the 2016 edition of “New England Super Lawyers 2016.” The firm also had five attorneys named as “Rising Stars.”

Independent Banker magazine, a trade group that serves as the nation's voice for nearly 6,000 community banks of all sizes and charter types, named Kennebec Savings Bank as one of its “2016 Top Producing Lenders.”

Woodard & Curran, an integrated engineering, science and operations company in Portland, said it received the “2016 Sponsor of the Year Award” from the New England Water Works Association, the region's largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals.

Macpage LLC, an accounting firm in South Portland, announced that Alison Herrick, principal, was selected as a Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants “Women to Watch Award” recipient.

WCSH 6 in Portland announced its News Center's “6 Who Care” award winners. Recipients were Jenny Pendleton, Caring for Kids; Betty Robinson, Tree Street Youth Center; Kevin Fitzpatrick, STRIVE; Mary Ann McLean, VNA Home Health Hospice; and Al Ragucci, Camp Sunshine. Cyndi Broyer of Mother Seton House was the “Mary Rines Thompson Award” winner. The program's “Agency of Distinction” was Furniture Friends.

Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, said that nine of its Portland-based attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2016 edition of “New England Super Lawyers.” The firm also had six Portland-based attorneys named as “Rising Stars.”

The American Lung Association in Maine recently presented its annual awards. MaineHealth was named the “Roselle Huddilston Award” winner for its lung cancer screening operation and continued work on tobacco prevention, the Maine Solar Stakeholders Advocacy Coalition was the recipient of the “Healthy Air Leadership Award” for improving lung health in Maine through research, education or advocacy efforts focused on protecting or enhancing indoor and/or outdoor air quality and Deb Violette, founder of Free ME from Lung Cancer, won the “Lung Force Hero Award” for raising her voice and sharing her story to raise awareness for lung health.

Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, announced the Bryan Dench, Stephen Wade and Rebecca Webber were named to the New England Super Lawyers 2016 list.

MEMIC, a workers' compensation specialist in Portland, said 43 of its employees received their workers' compensation professional diplomas from the American Society of Workers' Compensation Professionals.

American Airlines recently honored retiring pilot Michael Cardello of Cumberland Foreside for serving 35 years with the company.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, announced that the 2016 edition of New England Super Lawyers and Rising Stars recognized a total of 51 of its attorneys for excellence in their individual areas of practice. The list included Harold Friedman, Mark Googins and Karen Frink Wolf, who were included in the Top 100 New England “Super Lawyers.” Frink Wolf was also listed in the Top 50 Women.

Patriot Subaru in Saco said it captured a Cox Automotive Sustainability Award for leadership in community contributions and in-store green sustainability programs related to energy conservation and waste reduction. The dealership also announced it was named to the Automotive News “Best Dealerships To Work For” Top 100 list and worked with STRIVE to help raise $30,000 through the put “Kevin on the Roof” program.

The Maine Grocers & Food Producers named Tim McGonagle as its 2016 Associate of the Year. McGonagle, a senior vice president, agency manager and account executive with United Insurance, is board secretary for the organization.

Dan Mitchell, shareholder and co-chair of the Data Security Team at Bernstein Shur in Portland, was named to the National Law Journal's second annual list of Cyber Security Trailblazers for his work in cybersecurity law.
