Justice Delahanty confirmed as U.S. Attorney

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Thomas Delahanty II of Falmouth to serve as Maine's top federal prosecutor for the second time.

Lewiston native Delahanty succeeds Paula Silsby as U.S. Attorney for Maine, a position Silsby has held since 2001, according to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. Delahanty served as U.S. Attorney for Maine from 1980-1981. He has been a justice on the Maine Superior Court since 1983 and was chief justice from 1990 to 1995, according to the Bangor Daily News.

President Obama nominated Delahanty for the position in March, after receiving a list of potential candidates from U.S. House members Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud, according to both news sources.
