Karen Mills confirmed for SBA post

The U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Karen Gordon Mills as administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration late Thursday night, according to the U.S. Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship.

As head of the administration, Mills has said she wants to use stimulus money to increase small business loans and improve the SBA by bringing in new leaders and upgrading technology at the agency, among other goals.

Mills, a venture capitalist and graduate of Harvard Business School, runs the private equity firm MMP Group in Brunswick, where she lives with her husband, Barry Mills, president of Bowdoin College.
