Kennedy to stay at UMaine

Robert Kennedy will remain president of the University of Maine in Orono after being a finalist for the president's post at Kansas State University.

Kennedy, UMaine's 18th president, said in a statement he was "delighted" to continue in his role at UMaine. "With challenges come opportunities, and I continue to believe that UMaine is well-positioned to build on its recent successes and continue as a unique, invaluable resource serving its students and the state," he said.

Kennedy has been at UMaine since 2000, serving first as executive vice president and provost. He was named interim president in August 2004 and was made president in April 2005.
