Pine State Trading Co., a family-owned leading Maine wholesale beverage distributor, has made one new hire and moved one employee into a key leadership position.
Garrett Grunewald has been promoted to president and Sarah Stanley has joined the company as executive director of finance.
Grunewald previously served as the company’s chief financial officer. In his new role, he will report to co-owner Nick Alberding, who will remain CEO and board chairman.
“Gary has played a key role in our family-owned business’ growth and success since he started in 2015,” said Alberding. “Gary’s business acumen, people skills, leadership, and passion for the beverage industry make him the ideal choice for president. With this promotion, we are confident that Pine State will continue to thrive for years to come.”
As president, Grunewald will lead the company's overall strategic direction, including driving growth, managing operations and expanding product offerings.
In his previous position as CFO, Grunewald oversaw the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Prior to joining Pine State, Grunewald held various finance and accounting roles, including working at LightRiver Technologies Inc., Oxford Networks and Tilson Technology Management.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
As the new executive director of finance, Sarah Stanley
will manage the finance and accounting teams.
Before joining Pine State, Stanley served as a division controller at Precision Cutting Technologies, a division of Alleghany Capital in Saco.
Stanley holds a bachelor’s in political science and received a certificate in accounting from the University of Southern Maine and a master’s in accounting and taxation from Southern New Hampshire University.
“Sarah brings years of experience in helping companies grow profitability,” said Grunewald. “We’re fortunate to have her joining the Pine State team.”
Founded in 1941, Pine State Trading Co., a third-generation, family-owned business, is a leader in Maine's marketing and wholesale distribution of beverage products. Pine State delivers brand-name, private-label products to a customer base of more than 2,000.
