Gov. Paul LePage has nominated Carlisle McLean, his chief legal counsel, for a seat on the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
McLean told the Portland Press Herald that addressing increasing electricity prices would be her largest challenge if she was confirmed as a commissioner. She holds juris doctor and master of environmental management degrees from the Pace University School of Law and Yale University School of Forestry, respectively.
McLean said the PUC should be driven by legislative and regulatory directives and that it shouldn't make its own policies. With the PUC's decisions impacting all residents in Maine, she said the commission has a "huge responsibility."
