LePage tells AG Mills ‘sue me’ over Medicaid report

Maine Attorney General Janet Mills has sent a letter to Gov. Paul LePage demanding the release of a $925,000 study on the impact of expanding Medicaid, a report originally slated for release this past Monday.

The Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported that the LePage administration decided Monday not to release the report, saying he needed more time to review it. Mills wrote to LePage that the law does not allow him to withhold the report and that the governor is required to respond immediately to multiple Freedom of Access law requests for the document.

Speaking to reporters Monday, LePage said that if Mills did not like how he’s handling the release of the report from consultants with The Alexander Group, she could sue him. LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett characterized the call for the report’s release as a partisan attack from Mills, a Democrat.
