LePage to host second round of job-creation workshops
Gov. Paul LePage is planning to host another series of industry-specific job creation workshops this summer, designed to allow business leaders to share ideas on job creation and improving Maine's economy.
The first of the four events, which are free for attendees, will be held at Southern Maine Community College at the Brunswick Landing on June 13 and will focus on the fishing, marine resources and coastal tourism industries, according to a press release. Businesses are invited to attend from all over the state. Future sessions are expected to cover tourism, forestry and farming, and IT/manufacturing, with dates and locations to be determined.
Besides LePage, department commissioners and senior leadership within the governor's office will also attend.
"I have said before, government does not create jobs. But what we can do in Augusta is change the environment by which jobs are created in the private sector," said LePage in the release.
The first series of job-creation workshops were held in October and November.
