Two years after the inaugural Maine Food Producer Showcase & Golden Fork Awards, organizers are cooking up an encore for late October in Portland.

This year’s edition will feature more than 50 Maine food and beverage producers, offering a chance for retail, food service and institutional buyers, distributors and investors to discover new brands and innovative products.

Around 300 people attended in 2022.

This year’s trade show will take place Thursday, Oct. 24, at Brick South on Thompson’s Point, again with FocusMaine as the presenting sponsor.

“Maine's food and beverage industry is exceptional in terms of quality and variety, and the showcase is designed to both celebrate our hard-working food entrepreneurs and innovators and to provide them with more visibility with buyers and distributors nationally,” Tom Rainey, executive director of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, told Mainebiz.

“It's a really fun event and very gratifying to be part of the matchmaking between the producers and buyers.”

Grandy Organics, a Hiram-based maker of small-batch organic granola, trail mixes, roasted nuts and cereals that received a Golden Fork Award for Retail Best in Show in 2022 for its Original Coconola, plans to participate again this year.

This time around, “we look forward to a great event and are even hoping we might win another award,” said Aaron Anker, the company's CEO, who was honored as a Mainebiz Business Leader of the Year in 2023.

This year’s Golden Fork Award winners will be announced at the Oct. 24 showcase, about a month after a tasting competition at Southern Maine Community College.
