For a second year in a row, Maine Community Health Options has signed up the majority of Mainers seeking health insurance through the Affordable Care Act’s federal marketplace.
The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the Lewiston-based health insurance co-op signed up about 57,600 Mainers through the federal marketplace. Nearly 75,000 Mainers had signed up for health insurance through the ACA as of Feb. 18.
MCHO only had to contend with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine during the federal marketplace’s first year of enrollment. Harvard Pilgrim Health joined the second year.
