Lewiston wants part of proposed stimulus

Lewiston is asking for $35.7 million from a proposed stimulus package.

The city is the only municipality in Maine to ask for the capital investment should an $89 billion Main Street stimulus package proposed by the U.S. Conference of Mayors become law, according to the Sun Journal. Lewiston joins 152 other municipalities in 43 states asking for a piece of the aid package. President-elect Barack Obama has asked Congress to approve a broad stimulus package that includes infrastructure upgrades.

Lewiston lists 31 capital works projects in its wish list should the Main Street package materialize.
