“Maine Cabin Masters,” the renovate-a-wreck reality TV show, teamed up with Landry/French Construction last weekend to let the sun shine in at Camp Sunshine on Sebago Lake.
Volunteers from the show, now in its sixth season on the DIY Network, worked with Landry/French crews to replace 68 windows at the camp’s activity center — in one day.
Replacing the windows was a high priority for Camp Sunshine because each of the windows was 20 years old, according to a news release. The donation of skilled labor provided “monumental savings” for the nonprofit camp, a retreat in Casco for children and families affected by serious illness.
“Maine Cabin Masters” chronicles the restoration and renovation of cabins and camps in Maine. The show centers on Wayne contractor Chase Morrill, his designer sister Ashley Morrill, and her carpenter husband Ryan Eldridge. The show is distributed nationally and has often been the DIY Network’s most popular series.
Eldridge said in the release, “We were nervous about getting it all done in one day. But thanks to my guys, who gave up a Saturday to help out, as well as the team from Landry/French Construction, we all came together and accomplished a lofty goal for a very deserving organization. We're all proud to have been part of it."
Camp Sunshine Executive Director Michael Katz said, “A project of this size would have been impossible for our small maintenance crew to handle alone. We are in awe of the amount of work the groups were able to accomplish, and we simply cannot thank everyone involved enough."
Landry/French President Denis Landry said, “With many L/F employees, family and friends coupled with Veterans Framing and Maine Cabin Masters, we were able to meet our goal for window replacements and wood trim. The best part was the teamwork and fun we had all working together and doing it for such a caring organization with an incredible mission.”
