Maine home sales and median price up in July

Sales of single-family existing homes in Maine increased in July over the same month last year, while the median sales price saw a smaller increase over the same period.

The Maine Association of Realtors on Thursday announced that there had been 1,455 home sales in July, a 2.03% increase over the 12-month period. The median sales price was $181,500, a 1.4% increase — indicating that “half of the homes were sold for more and [the other] half sold for less,” the association said.

On a national level, single-family existing home sales decreased by 4.2% while the median sales price increased by 5.1% to $223,900 in July, according to the National Association of Realtors. In the Northeast, sales decreased by 9.9% and the median sales price increased by 2.4% to $273,600, according to the association.
