Maine home sales fall nearly 23% in November

There were approximately 22.6% fewer Maine homes sold in November than during the same month last year, according to new data from the Maine Association of Realtors.

Realtors sold 690 single-family homes last month, 201 fewer homes than were sold in November 2007. The median sales price of those homes declined 8.3% during the same time period to $172,415. The National Association of Realtors reported a regional decline in home sales of 18% in the Northeastern United States. The regional median sales price was $257,700, a slight 0.1% dip from November 2007.

Nationally, single-family existing home sales were 8.8% lower than in November 2007 and the median sales price declined 12.8% to $180,800.
