Maine Savings Federal Credit Union is the latest credit union to open a new branch, at 878 Stillwater Ave. in Bangor.
It’s the credit union’s third branch in Bangor, adding to its 671 Broadway and 868 Hammond St. locations, and its 12th overall. Other branches are in Bar Harbor at Jackson Laboratory, Brewer, Corinth, Ellsworth, Hampden, Milo, North Vassalboro, Old Town and Portland.
The Stillwater Avenue branch officially opened on March 17 and has scheduled a prize drawing for members on April 18, as well as special deposit and loan offers.
“This new location reflects our ongoing commitment to making banking more convenient and accessible for our members," said David Sayers, Maine Savings’s chief strategy officer.
Credit unions in Maine have been in expansion mode over the past year, with Orono-based University Credit Union’s entry into the Saco market, Lewiston-based Community Credit Union’s plans to expand to Franklin, Kennebec and Oxford counties and Portland-based cPort Credit Union breaking ground on a new branch building in Lewiston.
Maine Savings' Stillwater Avenue branch offers financial services including personal and business banking, consumer loans, mortgage services and financial education resources.

Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, founded in 1961 and headquartered in Hampden, has more than 37,000 members and over 150 employees. It was ranked No. 2 among the largest Maine-based credit unions in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on $792.7 million in assets as of Sept. 30, 2024.
