MaineHealth organizations have been awarded $388,241 in funding from United Way of Greater Portland to support projects that align with United Way's Thrive2027 campaign.

The campaign comprises a set of three 10-year goals created by and for the Greater Portland community in the areas of education, stability and health.

United Way announced four grants for project work across MaineHealth and in collaboration with community partners.

“Together, with community partners like MaineHealth, we are helping to improve the health of our communities,” said Liz Cotter Schlax, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Portland, in a news release.

"These grants will help people live longer through access to mental health services and substance use prevention and treatment services and give kids a strong, healthy foundation that sets them on a course to fulfill their potential," she added.

Cotter Schlax is a 2019 Mainebiz Woman to Watch honoree, and will be feted with other honorees at a Sept. 17 event in Portland.
