Mainers buy 17 Clear Channel radio stations

Two Maine broadcasters have agreed to buy all 17 Maine radio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications for $11 million.

Louis Vitali and Bruce Biette, the president and chief operating officer of Blueberry Broadcasting in Kennebunkport, respectively, will close on the deal in September, pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission, according to Portland news station WCSH 6.

The stations included in the deal are in the Augusta, Bangor and Rockland areas and range from talk and country to oldies and adult contemporary, according to the news station.

Vitali previously ran the WBACH network of classical music stations in Maine, and Biette worked as a broadcaster in Augusta and Bangor, WCSH 6 reported.
