MHMC adds a trio of organizations to its membership roster

The Topsham-based Maine Health Management Coalition has announced the addition of three new members to its roster: Portland Gastroenterology Center, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and Pine State Trading Company will join the nonprofit in its goal of reducing health care costs and improving the quality of clinical services.

The nonprofit coalition works with more than 60 members to spearhead improvements in Maine’s health care system by creating new benefit plans, providing ratings on clinicians’ performance and educating members on how their individual health care spending compares to state benchmarks.

Portland Gastroenterology Center, at 1200 Congress St. in Portland, boasts a team of a dozen gastroenterologists who perform services from routine screenings to the most advanced procedures, in addition to providing consultative services and treatment in their comprehensive center.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is the largest reproductive health care and sexuality education provider and advocate in northern New England. Its mission is to provide, promote and protect access to reproductive health care and sexuality education so that all people can make voluntary choices about their reproductive and sexual health.

The third addition to the coalition, the Gardiner-based Pine State Trading Co., is a family-owned marketing and distribution company of convenience and beverage products with more than 1,000 employees. Pine State offers a diversified sales, marketing and logistics network to serve more than 5,000 customers.

“Pine State Trading Co. is committed to the furtherance of the coalition’s goals, including reducing healthcare costs not only for our employees but all Maine healthcare consumers, and has a long-standing commitment to the health and productivity of employees,” Gena Canning, managing partner of Pine State Trading Co., said in a release.
