Colleen and Mike Gross, owners of the Verona Island-based Verona Wine and Design, have announced a mid-June date for the grand opening of a retail and wine shop and tapas bistro of the same name in Bucksport.
While the original Verona Wine and Design upcycled wine barrels to be used in the construction of home décor ranging from furniture to candlestick holders, the Bucksport eatery will feature a 40-seat bistro that will serve wines from across the planet, as well as craft beers and Mediterranean-style small plates, according to the Ellsworth American.
“The atmosphere will be casual elegance,” Colleen Gross told the American. “I like to think of it as a quiet little Italian setting.”
In addition to showcasing the hand-crafted, re-purposed wine décor, the retail shop of Verona will also sell wine by the bottle and ready-to-go foods geared to the picnic lover in your life.
The Grosses told the weekly newspaper that although hours will vary depending on the season, the Main Street bistro and retail shop will be open Tuesday through Sunday during the summer, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
