A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m., at NB Skowhegan, as Boston-based New Balance moves forward on the expansion of its athletic footwear manufacturing facility in Skowhegan.
New Balance’s $65 million investment will add 200 new jobs and double the factory’s production capabilities through a 120,000-square-foot single-story factory addition that will be completed by the end of 2024.
NB Skowhegan’s expansion reflects the company's strong commitment to domestic manufacturing and showcases its longstanding pride in American craftsmanship and the innovation of its Maine associates. The factory employs around 270 associates and was purchased by New Balance in 1981.
In addition to Skowhegan, New Balance has factories in Norridgewock and Norway.
