New industrial business opening in Scarborough
Electrical and mechanical equipment distributor Horizon Solutions plans to build a new office and warehouse at Scarborough's Haigis Parkway. The company will relocate 30 employees from its Portland location.
Horizon, which serves manufacturers, contractors and commercial facilities, has eight locations in four states in the Northeast, according to Current Publishing. It plans to build a 15,400-square-foot building on 2.8 acres at the parkway, making it the first major development there since it was built 20 years ago. Horizon's southern Maine sales team and some back-office employees will work out of the new location. The company also has a facility on Portland's Riverside Industrial Parkway and another in Bangor.
CEO Jim Newton told the paper the company needs a more modern facility to accommodate recent growth, and that the location is convenient for employees and customers.
