New hires

The Keller Williams Greater Portland Market Center in Portland hired Marcella Ade as a real estate sales professional.

Mercy Gastroenterology in Portland added Catherine McCrann to its practice. McCrann was previously with Central Maine Gastroenterology in Lewiston.

Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty in Portland hired Patti Lawton as a vice president based in the firm's Brunswick office, Julie Galvin as senior vice president in Portland and Marjanne Barbour and Valerie Foster as vice presidents in Camden.

Maine Spine & Nerve Institute in Scarborough hired Rudy Mueller as a certified functional medicine practitioner.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired David Schneider as part of the firm's business law practice group.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Robert Gerseny as president of Bar Harbor Trust Services and senior vice president of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Gerseny most recently served as chief fiduciary officer at Cambridge Associates LLC in Boston.

Macpage LLC, a CPA firm in South Portland, hired David Kratzer as a manager.

Isaacson & Raymond, a law firm in Lewiston, hired Melissa Donahue as a member of its transactional law department.

KeyBank in Portland hired Hugo Astorquiza as assistant vice president and manager in Gray, Heather Burns as assistant vice president and manager in Rockland and Kim Smith as manager in Camden. Astorquiza was most recently with Bank of America in Portland; Burns was an assistant branch manager with Camden National Bank; and Smith was with Bank of America.

Anew10, a weight loss practice in South Portland, hired Karee Amato Rhoades as a registered nurse and Gayle Myers as a certified adult nurse practitioner.

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor hired Michelle LaCombe as a member of the medical staff at its Brewer Medical Center in Brewer.

Mid Coast Health Services in Brunswick hired Peter Hutchinson as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Hutchinson, previously with the Philadelphia Hand Center, joined the medical staff of Mid Coast Hospital and will practice at Mid Coast Medical Group–Orthopedics.

Norton Insurance Agency in Cumberland Foreside hired Caitlin Jenkins as accounting clerk. Jenkins was previously a customer service associate with People's United Bank.

Woodlands Senior Living hired Paula Banks as executive director of Cape Memory Care, a specialized care facility for people with Alzheimer's disease and related memory impairments in Cape Elizabeth. Previously, Banks was the founder and operator of Two Lights Home Care and Paula Banks Consulting.

United Way of York County hired Jason Ketterick as manager of volunteer and youth engagement. Ketterick was previously an educator at Maine Audubon in Falmouth.

Biovation, a Boothbay-based manufacturer of biopolymer non-woven fiber products for medical, packaging and specialty markets, hired Keri Seitz as vice president of sales and customer relations. Seitz was previously president and CEO of FHC Inc. in Bowdoin.

Family Chiropractic Associates hired Mike Hurley in Falmouth and Amanda Davis in Scarborough.

Maine Huts & Trails in Kingfield hired Nate Hathaway as a staff member at the Flagstaff Hut and Max Phinney and Sara Lepkoff as staff members at the Poplar Hut.

Target Marketing Maine, a direct and digital marketing company in Rockland, hired Thomas Libbey as a sales representative for the Bangor area.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution hired Debra Argetes as a teller in Old Orchard Beach.

Promotions

Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston promoted Travis Frautten to assistant vice president and commercial loan officer. Frautten was previously a credit analyst.

Macpage LLC, an accounting firm in South Portland, promoted Benjamin Dailey to director.

KeyBank in Portland promoted Audrey Booker to manager in Guilford and Jessica Chute to assistant vice president and manager in Brewer. Booker was previously a teller and Chute was an assistant manager.

Dawson, Smith, Purvis & Bassett PA, an accounting firm in Portland, promoted Patricia Hodgdon to director of fiduciary tax services.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution promoted Michael Jean to vice president in its Westbrook office. In Old Orchard Beach, Joe Reardon was promoted to assistant vice president and Wanda Wilson to customer relationship officer. In Biddeford, Matt Grenier was promoted to branch supervisor, Debbie Ouellette to customer relationship associate and Alice Kaloyares to head teller in Biddeford. In Saco, Dan Rousselle was named head teller.

Appointments

State Sen. Justin Alfond, D-Portland, was appointed to the Maine Children's Growth Council, a resource that provides advice regarding young children and the Children's Cabinet and responsible for reviewing and addressing recommendations of legislative studies as they relate to young children.

The Portland Chamber Music Festival elected Richard Kraut, retired; Wendy Laidlaw, principal, vice president and COO, R.M. Davis; Laura Miller, marketing manager, cPort Credit Union; and Carl Tubbesing, retired, to its board of directors. The following were also elected as officers: president, Frank Douglass, assistant treasurer, WEX; vice president, Steve Gerlach, attorney, Bernstein Shur; second vice president, Jessica Smart, director of mission investment, Goodwill Industries of Northern New England; treasurer, Douglas Chene, associate professor of accounting and public health, University of Southern Maine; and secretary, Sean Sinclair, principal and chief operating officer, Baker Newman Noyes.

The Department of Professional and Financial Regulation announced that Judith Shaw was selected to serve as president-elect of the North American Securities Administrators Association. Shaw is securities administrator for the Maine Office of Securities.

Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham elected Nancy Robinson to its board of directors.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court appointed Benjamin Gideon to the Board of Overseers of the Bar, an independent agency that governs the conduct of lawyers in Maine. Gideon is a partner at Berman & Simmons, a law firm in Portland.

The board of directors of Junior Achievement of Maine appointed Emmanuel Caulk, Janet Cole Cross and Jenifer Rinehart to its board. Caulk is the superintendent of Portland Public Schools, Cole Cross is the owner of Cole Cross Connections LLC and Rinehart oversees global human resources and talent management for WEX.

The Cross Insurance Arena in Portland appointed Sam Surprise to its board of trustees. Surprise is the founder and president of Surprise Advertising in Portland. In addition, Betheda Edmonds, the director of the Freeport Community Library, was elected chairperson of the board; Joseph Gray, retired, was elected vice-chairman; and Mitchell Berkowitz, retired, was elected treasurer.

Tim Ouellette, chief financial officer and a principal owner of CPM Constructors of Freeport, was elected president of the Associated General Contractors of Maine.

Achievements

Husson University in Bangor announced that the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program, an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, has conferred accreditation to the university's Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling and Master of Science in school counseling programs.

U.S. News and World Report listed the University of Maine at Fort Kent as the 12th best college for veterans in the north region of the United States. The university was also ranked as the 45th most affordable online college for Bachelor's degrees in the nation by CollegeChoice.net.

The American Heart Association in Portland announced that Lois Skillings, president and CEO of Mid Coast Hospital, will chair the 2015 Go Red For Women Luncheon.

The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport was voted the winner of Henkel's 'Go Green & Save' contest and received $30,000 in Dial sustainable guestroom amenities for use in its 2015 season.
