Oxford Networks invests $5M in tech startup

Lewiston-based Oxford Networks will invest $5 million into technology startup Resilient Tier-V Corp., which recently opened at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

The two companies signed an agreement to provide secure network and data center services to businesses and government, with Oxford Networks' investment funding the creation of a data transmission, secure data storage and secure network management facility, according to a press release.

Oxford Networks President and CEO Craig Gunderson said the investment follows the growth of its fiber optic infrastructure, and "gives us the opportunity to leverage that network and to offer data management and cyber security services that are critical to businesses both here in Maine and elsewhere." Resilient's location at the former base, now known as Brunswick Landing, offers one of the most secure data storage sites in the country, according to the release. The partnership will give business customers access to redundant multi-gigabit fiber optic connectivity, as well as other data services, including secure storage, disaster recovery and virtualized servers.

Last December, Resilient announced it would open at the base with a goal of creating as many as 150 jobs. Charles Largay, a Bath native and former IBM executive, founded the cyber-security company two years ago.
