Oxford’s Hampton Inn contractor hit with liens

The Hampton Inn that opened in December across from the Oxford Casino on Route 26 is mired in a spate of liens filed against the general contractor and other entities involved in the inn’s construction.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that a $75,434 lien placed by Electrical Maintenance & Installation Inc. of Portland against Hampton Inn Oxford, GIRI Oxford I LLC, Calamar Construction Management and Kennebunk Savings Bank is the 11th lien since Jan. 1 to be filed against Calamar, the $15 million inn’s general contractor.

Two liens have since been discharged, the newspaper reported.

The newspaper reported that Calamar had filed a lawsuit last October against Stephen Bourassa, owner of Alexander Construction in Minot, for nearly $470,000, citing deficient work and failure to complete the scope of work, and that Bourassa, a month later, countersued, claiming Calamar’s allegations were untrue. Those lawsuits remain unresolved, the newspaper reported.

Calamar told the newspaper that most of the liens placed on the project in 2016 have been resolved.

The inn has been open for business since mid-December, the newspaper reported.
