Pease chosen as refueling tanker operating base

The Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, N.H., has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to be the country’s first home base for a new generation of refueling tankers.

As reported by Seacoastonline.com, Pease Air National Guard was one of 88 units reviewed by the Air Force as an operating base for the new KC-46A refueling tankers, described by Boeing on its website as having “unmatched operational flexibility” and the ability “to detect, avoid, defeat and survive threats using multiple layers of protection.”

Up to $41.9 million, including the expansion of two existing hangars, will be spent at Pease in preparation for the arrival of 12 KC-46A aircraft in 2018, Seacoastonline.com reported. Pease is home to the 157th Air Refueling Wing of the N.H. Air National Guard and the active-duty Air Force 64th Air Refueling Squadron.
