FetchDog, a dog-accessory company co-founded by actress Glenn Close and her husband, David Shaw, has been sold to Potpourri Group Inc., a Chelmsford, Mass., catalog company. The sale price was not disclosed.
FetchDog -- which sells high-end dog bowls, leashes, toys and other products by catalog and online -- was launched in 2007 by Close and her husband, the founder and former CEO of Idexx Laboratories who now leads the investment firm Black Point Group. Close and Shaw own a home in Scarborough.
The Portland Press Herald also reported that a former affiliate of FetchDog, Vets First Choice, received $4 million in financing from Polaris Venture Partners and other investors, including Shaw. Vets First Choice, which was spun off from FetchDog in 2011 by Shaw's son, Ben, partners with veterinarians to offer pet owners online ordering and direct-to-home delivery service for veterinary medications and diets.
