Portside’s 2023 summit had a focus on diversity, inclusion and fair housing.

Portside Real Estate Group’s Portside Summit on Jan. 18 will focus on the pressing issue of affordable housing in Maine.

“By bringing these experts together, we aim to explore ways for our realtor community to actively contribute to addressing the persistent challenge of affordable housing, ensuring a brighter future for our communities,” Dava Davin, Portside’s owner and founder, told Mainebiz. “By enhancing our Realtors' understanding of zoning laws and available programs, the more service we can help people struggling to find homes to purchase or rent.”

The summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Westin Harborview, 157 High St., Portland.

The affordable housing portion is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The all-day real estate conference brings together local and national experts in the field.

The lineup features Ryan Fecteau, a former state representative and senior officer of policy and planning at Avesta Housing; Maine State Economist Amanda Rector; and Katie Shorey, director of engagement at Live + Work in Maine.

Together, they'll explore the intersections of Maine's economic forecast, workforce trends and housing policies, seeking collaborative solutions to the ongoing challenge of affordable housing.

A pre-summit session will be held Jan. 11, at 9 a.m., with an economic forecast with Lawrence Yun, chief economist with the National Association of Realtors.
