Nickerson & O'Day Inc. of Brewer recently completed the $7.5 million bathroom renovations for Husson University's Bell Hall dormitory. Work was completed in time for the fall semester. The project was similar to Nickerson & O'Day's earlier renovations at Hart and Carlisle halls on campus. Also on campus, Nickerson & O'Day will manageconstruction of the planned 7,100 square-foot, $3 million Wellness Learning Center. The new facility will combine nursing, physical and occupation therapy activities, a patient simulation lab, space for criminal justice education and an adjoining lobby to integrate the Wellness and Learning Center wings.
AlliedCook of Scarborough will be construction manager for the planned Vets First Choice headquarters, on the site of what had been part of Shipyard Brewing's site in Portland's East End, at 12 Mountfort St. Bateman Partners and CBRE | The Boulos Co. are co-developers. The architect is David Lloyd at Archetype Architects in Portland.
Ledgewood Construction of South Portland broke ground on the planned Belfast Public Works Building. The project will include two buildings, a 28,000-square-foot public works garage and 9,000-square-foot building for salt and sand. Gartley Dorsky of Camden handled design. Completion date is expected to be September 2019.
Monaghan Woodworks of Portland is doing the buildout for the Rosemont Market on Route 1 in Falmouth, a former Pratt Abbott cleaners.
Great Falls Construction, Gorham, is the general contractor for the new maintenance and operations facility at the International Marine Terminal. Great Falls won the project with a bid of $3.8 million. Great Falls is also building the Station Square apartment complex in Gorham.
Emerald Builders, Bowdoinham, announced its partnership with Six Rivers NEMBA to support local trail building and conservation efforts. Emerald Builders joined 1% for the Planet, and with its gift of $550 to Six Rivers NEMBA has contributed $2,300 so far in its commitment to donate 1% of gross sales to non-profits working to protect the environment.
