Two downtown buildings in Norway are up for sale less than a month after businesses there were raided by federal and state authorities.
The properties at 172 and 180 Main St. housed New Horizon Capital Investment LLC, Opal Consulting, Mystic Tours and Travel, and other businesses owned by Dawn Cummings Solomon, according to the Sun Journal. Village Square Realty Co. Monday listed the 180 Main St. building for $259,000 and the 172 Main St. building for $269,000. Solomon and her husband, Harvey, were renovating the Odd Fellows Building in Norway and put it, along with their home, on the market in May.
Last month, agents from the Maine Attorney General's Office, Maine State Police and the Oxford County Sheriff's Office along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the U.S. Inspector General's Health and Human Services division raided the two properties and seized boxes of records and documents. Details on why the businesses were being investigated have not been released, but the investigation is being led by the Attorney General's Healthcare Crimes Unit, which specializes in allegations of MaineCare fraud or abuse by any company or organization that provides health care and accepts federal funds.
