Rural health facilities get $1.5M

Rural health care facilities in western and Down East Maine are receiving $1.5 million in federal funds to help with upgrades and equipment purchases.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office announced the federal awards today as part its efforts to support rural communities.

Danforth Habilitation Association in Danforth received a $1.37 million loan to replace its old intermediate care facility with a new one. Anson Madison Starks Emergency Services in Madison received a $132,000 loan and a $29,800 grant to replace an aging ambulance.
