Samoset Resort to expand this winter

The operator of the Samoset Resort announced a major renovation that will add a spa, Italian restaurant and luxury cottages to the Rockport hotel.
Owner Samorock LLC, an affiliate of Portsmouth-based Ocean Properties, plans to begin work during the hotel's regularly scheduled seasonal closing that starts Nov. 28, and finish renovations at some point in early 2011, according to the Herald Gazette. Work includes adding a seaside spa, three guest cottages and La Bella Vita Restaurant and Enoteca Lounge, which will replace the existing restaurant's Marcel's and the Breakwater Cafe. The cost of the renovation was not disclosed.
The renovation work will create 22 temporary jobs, according to the paper.
