Sanford mill eyed for reuse
A New Hampshire development company is proposing turning a former Sanford mill into a mixed residential and commercial development.
Brady Sullivan Properties of Manchester, N.H., is seeking a zoning change to develop an old mill it leases on Emery Street, according to Current Publishing. The company wants to build 141 units of housing and 20,000 square feet of commercial space on the building's first floor. The building, once part of a massive factory block, is zoned for industrial use. The project has received preliminary approval from the planning board, and the town council is expected to make a decision on the zoning change Aug. 23. Town Manager Mark Green said he's aware of no problems related to a zoning change.
The proposal is one of a number of mill revitalization projects happening in the town. This fall, another development company plans to buy the former Sanford Mill, refurbished by the town using brownfields grant money, for $200,000 and open it to commercial and residential tenants, according to the news site.
