SCORE Maine promotes chapter chair to state director

SCORE Maine, which provides mentoring and education for small businesses throughout the state, has promoted Jonathan Trumper to become the group's new state district director.

He succeeds Steve Veazey, who is retiring from the role but will remain with SCORE Maine as an advisor through the transition, according to a news release Monday.

In his new position, Trumper will coordinate SCORE Maine's community outreach, recruiting and small-business mentoring and workshop programs statewide.

Jonathan Trumper is the new Maine state director for SCORE.

Trumper is the former SCORE chapter chair in southern Maine, and in that role handled client, volunteer and community engagement for more than five years. He also led SCORE Maine's work around diversity, equity and inclusion.

Previously, Trumper worked in consulting, content strategy and development for artists, public figures and organizations including the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He is a graduate of Kenyon College.

In a 2021 interview with Mainebiz, Trumper compared the work of SCORE Maine to his experience in the arts world.

"Like agents, SCORE mentors are encouraging. We support and foster the vision, and bring to bear practical experience and subject matter expertise to help avoid the pitfalls and ensure success," he said.

Bridget Weston, the CEO of SCORE, said, “Jonathan’s selection as district director will have a very positive impact on SCORE Maine. Jonathan will ensure the superior level of services that SCORE offers to local area businesses throughout the state.”

With 110 volunteers, SCORE Maine assists small businesses via free, virtual and in-person counseling and a series of business workshops and webinars.

Nationally, SCORE's 10,000 volunteers provide mentoring and education in all 50 U.S. states. Since its founding in 1964 as a resource partner for the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE has helped more than 17 million entrepreneurs start, grow or successfully exit a business.
