Sears reverses decision to leave Aroostook mall
Sears officials have reversed a decision to close the company’s Presque Isle store, which employs 58 at the Aroostook Centre Mall, after striking a deal with the mall’s owner.
Howard Riefs, a Sears spokesman, told the Bangor Daily News Thursday that continued lease negotiations and a new agreement will allow the store to stay open.
Last week, the company said the chain is pursuing store closures as part of an effort to reduce ongoing expenses and accommodate a changing business model.
